Concremat will participate in the implementation of the monorail in the Dominican Republic – a project financed by Banreservas, the Dominican state bank. The company leads the Monotel SDC Consortium, which also comprises Companhia do Metrô de São Paulo, Itrans and Grupo AM, which won the public tender for technical management and inspection of the civil work project, supply and installation of electromechanical equipment and start-up of the monorail and cable car from Santiago de Los Caballeros.
The consortium’s role will be in the management and supervision of the execution of the work project, as well as the procedures to start the operation of the pioneer system in the Caribbean country. The project is expected to be completed in 36 months.
The project involves the implementation of the first monorail line in Central America and the Caribbean, which will be 16 km long and have 16 stations between Cienfuegos and Madre y Maestra, connecting the most populous sectors of Santiago de Los Caballeros and areas of concentration of work. The work began in March 2022 and, when ready, should transport 200,000 people a day, reducing travel time and increasing accessibility in public transport.
